Program Overview
We are accepting applications for the 2010/2011 school year. Our last deadline is March 1, 2010. We encourage you to apply early as we are rolling admissions.
The Chicago Teaching Fellows program provides a pathway for outstanding individuals to become teachers in Chicago Public Schools (CPS) and to significantly impact the academic achievement of our city’s children. We look to successful professionals and recent college graduates to bring their knowledge, experience, and records of achievement to the classrooms where their leadership is needed most.
In this highly-selective alternative certification program, the most exemplary candidates will begin teaching full-time in the fall of 2010, while simultaneously earning their teaching certificates at a local university. Fellows will teach in critical shortage areas, including special education, math, science, and bilingual education.
Fellows will join a movement of passionate, goal-oriented individuals who share a commitment to improving not only the educational opportunities for Chicago school children but also their life chances. Applicants to the Chicago Teaching Fellows program benefit from a streamlined application and selection process and, if selected and once hired at a CPS school, have the opportunity to pursue an Illinois teaching certificate while receiving a full-time teacher’s salary.
The Chicago Teaching Fellows program is committed to providing Chicago’s students with a new generation of educators who will work relentlessly to ensure their academic success.
